Congress call: Establishment of defence education and maritime university in Odisha is a mustHighlighting the rich maritime history of Odisha, senior Congress leader Srikant Jena called for the establishment of a central maritime university in Odisha and stressed the need to encourage defence education in the state.
His view was expressed through a letter to Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in which he demanded strengthening of defence educational infrastructure in the state. He specifically urged to present this letter to the President of India Draupadi Murmu who was on the Puri coast of Odisha to inaugurate the Navy Day celebrations.
Need for maritime history and educational infrastructure
Congress leader Srikant Jena described the rich maritime history of Odisha as unmatched and said that the absence of a central university promoting maritime studies in the state is a big drawback. He released a proposal to establish a central maritime university in Odisha to train and educate the youth of the state in this field.
This university will help in giving a new direction to the maritime education sector of the state and will enable the youth to make a career in the maritime sector and will also help the youth to move forward in this field.
Call to strengthen defense educational infrastructure
Apart from this, Congress leader Srikant Jena has also emphasized the need to improve the field of defense education in Odisha. He said that the state has low representation in army recruitment and this may be due to the fact that there is a lack of defense related coaching here. He talked about the need for a large and comprehensive army recruitment coaching center in Odisha, so that the youth of the state can get an opportunity to prepare in a better way.
And along with this, he has also said that there is a need to establish more Sainik Schools and Military Schools in Odisha, especially in those areas where the geographical location and population are particularly suitable for such facilities.
Congress call Significance of Navy Day and President’s presence
On the occasion of Navy Day, the Indian Navy performed a spectacular display on the Puri coast, so that people could see the strength and versatility of the Navy up close. The event was attended by President Draupadi Murmu, who arrived to inaugurate the ceremony as the Supreme Commander of the Indian Navy. Governor Raghubar Das and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi welcomed the President of India Draupadi Murmu at the international airport. She arrived in Odisha for the naval ceremony.
