Smoke from the fireplace in the room became fatal: The door of the sleeping family was not opened. In Muzaffarnagar district, an attempt to escape the cold proved fatal for a family on Sunday night. To escape the cold, Salim’s family in Madina Colony of Civil Line police station area slept in a room of the house by lighting a coal brazier. Due to lack of ventilation in the room, five members of the family, including two children, fell unconscious due to suffocation.

The incident came to light on Monday afternoon when the neighbors saw that the door of the house was not opened yet. The neighbors became suspicious, then when the neighbors reached inside the house through the roof, all the members were found lying unconscious. The police was immediately informed about the incident. The police reached the spot and took all the unconscious members to the hospital.

Doctors said that due to the critical condition of the children, they have been referred to Meerut, while the other members of the family are undergoing treatment in the district hospital.

What happened during the incident?

CO City Vyom Bindal has told that on Sunday night, Salim, his wife Nishara, daughter Tabassum and two children Chand and Hazara were sleeping in a room. They had lit a fire brazier to avoid the cold. But due to lack of ventilation in the room, the smoke of coal filled the whole room. Everyone fainted due to suffocation.

Lives saved due to alertness of neighbors

When the door did not open for a long time after noon on Monday, the neighbors got suspicious. And they entered the house through the roof and immediately informed the police about the incident. The police reached the spot and took all the family members to the hospital.

Doctors’ report

According to the doctors, the condition of two children remains critical, while the other three are being treated at the district hospital. The police have informed other relatives of the family about the incident.

Be careful

Take special care of ventilation before lighting a brazier in a closed room during the cold season. And incidents of suffocation due to accumulation of smoke can prove to be fatal.
