Fake certificate scam: UP STF made a big disclosure in Ballia. The Special Task Force (STF) of the police in Uttar Pradesh has exposed an interstate organized gang which used to illegally recruit youth in the competitive examinations of railways and army by making fake residence certificates and Aadhar cards. In this action, the main member of the gang, Shashi Bhushan Upadhyay, has been arrested from Jamui village of Ballia district. The police is investigating this matter deeply.
Arrest and recovery
The Varanasi unit of STF raided and arrested Shashi Bhushan Upadhyay on Sunday morning. And a large number of fake residence certificates and other documents were recovered from him. According to the FIR, Upadhyay has told the police that he used to make fake residence certificates of West Bengal, especially Kolkata, and get the candidates enrolled in the army and railway examinations. For this, the gang used to charge a huge amount of up to three lakh rupees per certificate.

Police investigation has revealed that Upadhyay along with Mithun Karmakar, Manoj Kumar Singh and Rajan Singh, residents of West Bengal, used to prepare fake residence certificates and Aadhaar cards. So far Upadhyay has prepared more than a thousand fake certificates.
Old record
Police investigation has also revealed that Shashi Bhushan Upadhyay himself had joined the army in the year 2000 on the basis of fake documents. But fearing certificate verification, he left the training midway and fled.
STF’s vigilance
STF Inspector Puneet Parihar had registered a case in Ballia city police station. Information was received that youth in Ballia and surrounding areas are using fake certificates from Kolkata to appear in competitive examinations. On this basis, STF raided there. And said that this gang should be caught as soon as possible.
Strict action is needed in this crime
This scam not only raises questions on the security of the government system but also shows how organized gangs are pushing the youth on the wrong path. This case underlines the need for strictness in the recruitment process of government jobs and certificate verification. Such gangs will be exposed through this action of STF.
