Jhansi Medical College Accident India: ₹5 lakh assistance to the deceased and ₹50 thousand to the injured. A major accident occurred due to fire in the medical college on the night of 15-11-2024. Due to fire in NICU (New Born Intensive Care Unit), 10 newborn babies died of suffocation, while 37 children were evacuated safely. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep condolences on this incident and ordered immediate action and ordered to provide financial assistance of ₹5 lakh to the families of the deceased babies and ₹50,000 to the families of the seriously injured.
Army and fire department did relief work
The fire department came to know about the fire on time, due to which they reached there as soon as possible and controlled the fire and saved people from loss. The army also contributed in the rescue work. Short circuit is being said to be the cause of the fire. District Magistrate and other administrative officers reached the spot. The electricity of the medical college was immediately cut off.
Painful scene of the incident
The fire broke out at around 10:40 pm, when more than 50 newborns were admitted in the NICU. The flames and smoke soon took a dangerous form. The relatives of the children started running out with them in their arms. Pregnant women and other patients of the hospital also started running here and there in panic. Relief work was hampered due to darkness and smoke in the ward. Firefighters broke the glass of the windows and entered inside and then took out the children.
Chief Minister sought report in 12 hours
CM Yogi expressed deep grief over the incident and directed the administration to carry out relief and rescue work quickly. He said that the death of children is extremely sad and disappointing. CM asked Deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak and Principal Secretary Medical and Health to immediately go to Jhansi. Ordered the Divisional Commissioner and Deputy Inspector General of Police to investigate the accident and submit a report within 12 hours
Treatment of the injured and relief work continues
Patients are being treated in other wards of Jhansi Medical College. Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) Varun Pandey and other officials are monitoring the situation. The Chief Minister got the injured treated well and tried to ensure that they got whatever they needed.
CM’s condolences
The Chief Minister, while meeting the relatives of the deceased, said that this incident is very sad. He prayed for the peace of the departed souls and the speedy recovery of the injured.
