Method of worship
Get up early in the morning, take a bath and wear clean clothes.
Take a vow to fast. For Puja, place a slab on a clean place and spread a red cloth on it.
Install the idol or picture of Lord Dattatreya.
Offer kumkum, sandalwood, flowers and fruits to the Lord.
Light a lamp of pure ghee and perform the Aarti of the Lord.
Puja Mantra
Chant the following mantra during the Puja:
“Om Asya Shree Dattatreya Stotra Mantrasya Bhagwan Narada Rishi: Anushtup Chhanda:, Shree Datta Paramatma Devata:, Shree Datta Preetyarthe Jape Vinoyog:”
Also, chant the following mantra at least 108 times:
“Om Draam Dattatreyaay Namah”
Rudraksha rosary should be used for mantra chanting.
At the end of Puja
After the puja is over, offer gulal, abir, and other materials. Offer bhog to the Lord as per your wish and do aarti together. This day is a great opportunity to get the blessings of Lord Dattatreya.
