CT Ravi, who was arrested on charges of using objectionable words against Lakshmi Hebbalkar, a minister in the Congress government of Karnataka, got bail from the High Court in Karnataka on Friday. A single bench of Justice MG Uma granted him interim relief.
Allegation of murder conspiracy
CT Ravi termed the entire incident as a conspiracy to murder him. Ravi, with bandages on his head, has said that the Karnataka police treated him like a terrorist. He has alleged that if something wrong happens to him, the entire responsibility will be of the Congress government.
Questions on the police
CT Ravi has said that the police is reluctant to register an FIR. He has also claimed that he has been threatened in public and attempts have been made to attack him thrice at Swarna Vidhana Sudha.
Root of the controversy
It is worth noting that on the complaint of Lakshmi Hebbalkar, a case was registered against CT Ravi under sections 75 and 79 of the Indian Penal Code. These sections also include the charge of using abusive language with the intent to outrage the modesty of a woman.
Claim of ideological fight
CT Ravi has said that he has never made personal attacks on anyone. His criticism has always been ideological and political. Accusing the state government of misusing the administration, he has also said that he was treated like a terrorist.
