High tension line accident: Five workers injured due to tower collapse in Prayagraj . A major accident took place in Sahason village of Prayagraj in UP on Saturday and during the construction of the ring road near Jagbandhanpur, the wire bridge tower of the 400 kV high tension line suddenly fell down, injuring five workers. One of these workers’ leg was cut off and he has been admitted to the hospital in critical condition.
Details of the incident
Work was going on to build a ring road in Sahason village. A new wire bridge tower was being installed for the 400 kV power line connecting Bengal to Delhi. The workers were climbing to a height and pulling the wire. And at the same time suddenly the tower fell down, due to which five workers were caught in it. And they were soon admitted to the hospital.
Condition of the injured
All the workers injured in this incident were residents of Malda Town in West Bengal.

Among these, Salim’s condition is very serious and he has been referred to SRN Hospital in Prayagraj. Other workers were admitted to the nearest hospital in Sahason for treatment.

According to the preliminary investigation, this accident happened while pulling the wire through the machine. Wire pulling work was going on from both sides and some workers were working under the tower. They got injured due to sudden collapse of the tower.
Statement of police and local administration
On receiving information about this incident, the DCP of Gangapar and other officials including the police reached the spot. In this preliminary investigation, it was found that this accident happened due to technical fault in the construction work and the police has said that all the injured are being treated and the investigation of the case is going on.

After this incident, the local people showed promptness and the injured were taken to the hospital as soon as possible. And the police have said that the reasons responsible for this accident will be found out and strict action will be taken against them. This accident in Prayagraj, UP has once again highlighted the issues of safety at construction sites. All concerned parties should be vigilant to ensure the safety of workers.
