Two Bihari laborers shot dead in Manipur, police registered a case
killing of Bihari laborers in Manipur: Violence continues The violence in Manipur is not stopping. On Saturday evening, two Biharis were shot dead in Keirak in Kakching district. Both the laborers were returning to their rented house on a bicycle after finishing the construction work, when some attackers targeted them. And both were shot dead.
Information about the incident
According to the police, the incident took place around 5:20 pm on Saturday. Both the deceased labourers have been identified as Sunalal Kumar (18) and Dashrath Kumar (17). Kakching police have said that the incident took place near the Panchayat office.
Who were residents of Rajwahi village of Gopalganj district. Which comes under Yadavpur police station. Both the labourers were working at a construction site in Kakching and were returning to their rented house on bicycle after work.
Assailants not traced
The Kakching police said the incident took place near the panchayat office. The gunmen shot the two labourers and fled from the spot. The police admitted both of them to the local Jeevan Hospital, where doctors declared them dead. The attackers have not been identified yet, and the police are investigating the matter. No clues have been found yet.
Increasing violence in Manipur
This incident is part of the violence that has been going on in Manipur for the last few months. The situation has remained tense for the last 19 months due to the conflict between the Kuki and Meitei community in the state.
Recently many people have lost their lives in the violence, and thousands of people have been forced to leave their homes and take shelter in relief camps. Manipur is flaring up instead of calming down.

Violence started in Manipur on 3 May 2023, when the Kuki community took out the ‘Tribal Unity March’. The purpose of this march was against granting scheduled tribe status to the Meitei community. During this protest, violent clashes broke out between the Kuki and Meitei communities, after which the situation in Manipur worsened. Since then the situation is tense there.
Police started investigation
The police have registered a report of the incident and started searching for the accused. However, the reason for the murder is not yet clear.
There is no possibility of improvement in the situation in Manipur, and violence is increasing continuously. Thousands of families have to leave their homes and live in relief camps. But instead of calming down, Manipur is getting more and more agitated.
