Republic Day 2025: Traffic alert in Delhi, these main roads will remain closed due to parade The Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory for Republic Day 2025, which gives information about traffic restrictions and diversions on various routes in Delhi in view of the parade and related security measures. This advisory provides important information to Delhiites to plan routes before traveling.

Republic Day Parade Start and Route

The Republic Day Parade 2025 will start from Vijay Chowk at 10:30 am and will go to the Red Fort. The route includes the following routes:

  • Vijay Chowk
  • Kartavya Path
  • C-Hexagon
  • Around the statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose
  • Tilak Marg
  • Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg
  • Netaji Subhash Marg

No vehicle will be allowed on Kartavya Path from Vijay Chowk to India Gate from 5 pm on Saturday till the end of the parade. Also, cross traffic will be restricted on Kartavya Path on Rafi Marg, Janpath, Man Singh Road from 10 pm on Saturday till the end of the parade.

Restrictions on Delhi borders

On the occasion of Republic Day, the entry of vehicles on Delhi borders will be restricted from 5 pm on Saturday (January 25). Only essential vehicles will be allowed on those routes, and this restriction will remain in force till the parade ends.

Metro and public transport

Metro services will be resumed from 3 am on Sunday (January 26). Metro services will be available for commuters at all stations, however, Delhiites should plan their journey by getting information about traffic restrictions and routes in advance.

Restrictions on routes

On the occasion of Republic Day, there will be traffic restrictions and diversions on several major routes. These routes include major routes such as Ferozshah Road, Mandi House, Bhagwan Das Road, Mathura Road, Humayun Road, APJ Abdul Kalam Marg, and other important routes.

The Delhi Police has advised commuters to follow alternate routes. A list of some alternate routes has been released to travel from North Delhi to South Delhi and East Delhi to West Delhi. These routes include Ring Road, Ashram Chowk, Lodhi Road ‘T’ Point, Vande Mataram Marg, and other roads.

Directions for buses and city buses

The movement of city buses is being curtailed around ISBT-Kashmere Gate, ISBT-Sarai Kale Khan, and other major bus terminals. Delhiites are advised to take extra caution while traveling from these transport hubs and know about the routes in advance.

Due to the drastic changes in the traffic system in Delhi on the occasion of Republic Day 2025, it is necessary that Delhiites plan their journey in advance and follow the traffic advisory. This will ensure that they can reach their destination smoothly and avoid any unnecessary confusion.

Changes in transport from Ghaziabad to Delhi

In view of the Republic Day parade, buses going from Ghaziabad to Shivaji Stadium will terminate at National Highway-24**, *Ring Road* and Bhairon Road. Buses coming from National Highway-24 will turn right at Road No. 56 and end their journey at ISBT-Anand Vihar.

Arrangements have been made to divert buses coming from Ghaziabad from Mohan Nagar to Wazirabad Bridge towards Bhopra Chungi.

Ban on entry of vehicles in Delhi border

According to the advisory, no heavy transport, medium or light goods vehicles except essential services will be allowed to enter the Delhi border from 9 pm on Wednesday till the parade ends.

Along with this, citizens have been appealed that if you see any suspicious object or person, immediately inform the nearest police officer on duty

Ban on aerial activities

Keeping in mind the security, Delhi Police has imposed a complete ban on the flying of para-gliders, para-motors, hang gliders, UAVs, UAS, microlight aircraft, drones, quadcopters and other non-conventional aerial platforms till February 1, 2025.

Special operation of Delhi Metro service

On the occasion of Republic Day, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has decided to start metro service from 3 am.

The Principal Executive Director of DMRC has informed that this step has been taken to provide convenience to those attending the Republic Day celebrations.

From 3 am to 6 am: Trains will run at an interval of 30 minutes.

After 6 am: Metro service will operate as per regular timetable.

Appeal to citizens for safety

Citizens have been appealed to remain vigilant and cooperate with the police to ensure safety.
