SP demanded from Election Commission: Muslim women should get the right to vote without fear

Uttar Pradesh by-elections voting on November 20 with SP and BJP campaigns highlighted.

SP demanded from Election Commission: Muslim women should get the right to vote without fear. Voting is scheduled for 9 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh on November 20. A day before the voting, the Samajwadi Party (SP) has written a letter to the Election Commission and made several important demands. In its demand, the SP has said that during voting, security personnel should avoid checking women by making them remove their burqa.

During the last Lok Sabha elections, policemen threatened SP-supporting Muslim women in the name of checking and sent them back from the polling station without casting their vote. Due to this incident, a large number of SP-supporting Muslim women returned without voting. This had a negative impact on the elections and the voting percentage declined in many places.

The SP has issued several helpline numbers for the Uttar Pradesh by-elections. The party has appealed to its voters that if they face any kind of problem, they can call these numbers and get help.

It is worth noting that the campaign for by-elections on nine assembly seats ended at 6 pm on November 18.

Star campaigners of BJP and SP

Many senior BJP leaders including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak campaigned vigorously for the party candidates. At the same time, senior SP leaders including SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and party MP from Mainpuri Dimple Yadav sought votes for their party candidates.

SP and Congress did not hold joint rally

On behalf of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), the party’s state president Vishwanath Pal campaigned for the party candidates. Congress and SP, which are important components of the Bharat Alliance, their leaders did not hold any joint election rally during the campaign. However, Congress did not field its candidates in this by-election.

Voting will be held on these nine seats

Voting for the by-election will be held on the seats of Katehari in Ambedkarnagar, Karhal in Mainpuri, Mirapur in Muzaffarnagar, Ghaziabad, Majhawan in Mirzapur, Sisamau in Kanpur Nagar, Khair in Aligarh, Phulpur in Prayagraj and Kundarki in Moradabad. A total of 90 candidates are in the fray on these seats. The maximum number of 14 candidates are from Ghaziabad assembly constituency. At the same time, the least number of five candidates each are trying their luck on Khair (reserved) and Sisamau seats.
