Maharashtra Elections: Mahayuti vs Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA)

Maharashtra is witnessing a direct contest between the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance (Shiv Sena and NCP-Ajit Pawar) and the Congress-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) (Shiv Sena-UBT and NCP-SCP).

Most exit polls had predicted a clear majority in favour of the Mahayuti.

The leaders of the Mahayuti have announced that the name of the chief minister will be decided collectively after the election results.

This election is the first major assembly election after the split in the Shiv Sena and the NCP, which will decide the political direction of the state.

Though the Maha Vikas Aghadi is expected to perform strongly in some seats, reaching the majority figure will be challenging.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Vinod Tawde has been accused of “note for vote”, which Uddhav Thackeray has termed as ‘note jihad’.

Jharkhand elections: NDA vs India Block

The contest in Jharkhand is between the BJP-led NDA and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led alliance.

The NDA alliance includes the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU), JDU, and LJP-Ram Vilas.

On the other hand, JMM is joined by Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), and Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist).

Voting was held in two phases, with a total voter turnout of 67.74%.

Exit polls are predicting a hung assembly in Jharkhand.

JMM chief Hemant Soren is expected to retain power while BJP is trying to get close to a majority in the state.

UP bypolls: BJP’s battle of prestige

The results of the bypolls in Uttar Pradesh for 46 assembly seats in 13 constituencies and two Lok Sabha constituencies are crucial for the BJP.

This election is crucial for the BJP’s reputation, especially after its disappointing performance in the Lok Sabha elections.

Rae Bareli and Wayanad seats are receiving special attention.

Congress’ Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is contesting her first election from Wayanad, and the result will have a profound impact on her political future.
