Gus Atkinson takes historic hat-trick in WTC: becomes the fourth bowler. England’s young fast bowler Gus Atkinson achieved a special place in the history of the World Test Championship (WTC). He has included himself in the list of legendary bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Naseem Shah and Keshav Maharaj by taking a hat-trick in the second Test match against New Zealand.

Atkinson’s historic successes

On 7 December 2024, in the Test match against New Zealand in Wellington, Atkinson created history by defeating Nathan Smith, Matt Henry and Tim Southee on three consecutive balls.

This feat is the first success of Atkinson’s career, making Atkinson the fourth bowler to take success in the World Test Championship.
