Divisive reaction to Christmas classic
The song, which is synonymous with Christmas, is disliked by one in five people in the UK. It was named “least favourite” song by 19.5% of people. It is followed on the list by Justin Bieber’s “Mistletoe” and Band Aid’s “Do They Know It’s Christmas?”.

Although Mariah Carey’s songs are extremely popular during Christmas, people in Britain don’t remember her much during the rest of the year. When people in the research were given a list of Mariah’s other songs (We Belong Together, Without You, and Vision of Love), 67% of British people could not name a single one of these songs.
In addition, only 2% of people were able to recognize these three songs of hers. This shows that Mariah Carey’s main attraction is only her Christmas hits.
Christmas music habits
According to the research, about 25% of British people listen to Christmas music even in January after the holidays to stay in the festive mood.
- About 3.4 million people, i.e. 5%, admitted that they listen to Christmas music throughout the year.
- This group is so fond of Christmas music that they dance around the Christmas tree even in July.

“It seems Mariah Carey needs some more love from the UK for Christmas. The nation voted her Christmas song the worst and almost ignored the rest of her songs!”
