Questions on student’s death: Police arrested the youth after hotel incident in Varanasi accident A 22-year-old girl died after falling from the third floor of a hotel under suspicious circumstances in Ramkatora area of Chetganj police station area of Varanasi on Wednesday.

The deceased was a student of a college affiliated to Kashi Hindu University (BHU) and had come to Varanasi to receive a degree in the convocation ceremony. She was staying here in the hotel with a young man from Jharkhand. At present, the police is investigating the matter.

Details of the incident

The girl was living in Dhanbad, Jharkhand and was originally a resident of Banda district of Uttar Pradesh. She had checked in at Hotel SV Grand on December 13 with Furkan (son of Mohammad Sayan), a 23-year-old youth from Jharkhand.

On Wednesday, the girl fell down from the third floor of the hotel. Immediately she was taken to Kabir Chaura Mandal Hospital, from where she was referred to BHU Trauma Center. Doctors declared the girl dead. After the incident, the young man who was with the girl has been taken into custody by the police. The matter is under investigation.

Police action

The police have taken the young man Furkan into custody and started questioning him. ACP Gaurav Kumar said that the families of the girl and the young man have been informed. The girl was originally from Banda district, while currently living in Dhanbad, Jharkhand.

The young man has been identified as 23-year-old Furkan son of Mohammad Sayan, who is a resident of Dhanbad, Jharkhand. Forensic investigation of the hotel room is going on, and evidence is being collected to find out the reasons for the girl’s death.
